A vibrant thangka painting of Mahakala Panjarnata, also known as Go Gonpo or Lord of the Pavilion, who is the protector of the Hevajra cycle of teachings and the Sakya School of Tibetan Buddhism. As the central figure, he stands on a corpse atop a lotus, with a ghandi (stick of emanation) laid across his forearms, surrounded by retinue figures including yidams (Hevajra, Cakrasamvara), lineage holders, a mahasiddha, and various other protectors and devotees. This is a very special painting-- brilliant, charmingly naive, and full of energy.
